Artist’s Statement:
I am an artist who paints passionately at my kitchen table while also fulfilling my roles as a mother, wife, and school psychologist. Throughout childhood and adolescence, being an artist was a key part of my identity. I entered college planning to pursue a career in art, but lost confidence and followed a traditional path in education. For years, the expectations of life silenced my creativity—until recently. Now, the artist within has reawakened. I strive to be an example to my children: to follow your dreams, be vulnerable, and use your talents.
My paintings reflect serenity and the beauty of the world around us. I love playing with color and texture, letting intuition guide my brush. Trees, water, florals, and open skies frequently appear in my work. I draw inspiration from impressionism, working exclusively in acrylics on canvas for now, but hope to explore other mediums as my journey continues.
I’m inspired by experiences, destinations, and emotions. Since reconnecting with art, the way I view the world has shifted. A walk outdoors becomes a source of endless ideas. I often photograph what I see and return to it at my easel. Sometimes I sit with a clear plan; other times I create something entirely abstract. My process blends freedom and intention—a balance I’m learning to trust.
Though sharing my work publicly is both exciting and daunting, I remain committed. At 38, I still tell my children, with a full heart, that I want to be an artist when I grow up.
